Do G-spot creams really work?

Dear Sex Doc,

I have heard of G-spot creams that are supposed to make women orgasm easier. Do they really work? What is the active ingredient if so?

Science Geek

Dear Science Geek,

I am always leery of lotions, potions, and pills that promise to revive a dead penis or resuscitate some vagina. The problem is that these products do not need to be tested or proven that they do what they intend.

Since they’re not tested, you may end up in emergency with a mid-section resembling the surface of the moon.

Most of the clitoral creams currently on the market don’t work very well. Creams or gels that contain menthol (most do) will cause more blood to rush to the area, which is usually a good thing.

However Science Geek, too much menthol can numb the clit worse than Joan River’s face the week of the Oscars.

Products that contain L-arginine are most likely good. L-arginine is an amino acid that has been found to increase sexual desire in men and women.

Science Geek, if you’re looking for a little clit-pick-me-up, I would recommend O’My’s Clitoral Stimulating Gel. It contains L-arginine and has just the right amount of menthol.

Best regards,

Dr. Brian Parker
