How can I get over my fears of having sex again?Dear Sex Doc, I’m a 22 year old female who is recently single again and am nervous about having sex with someone other than my ex. We started dating when I was 16 and I’ve only had sex with him. How can I get over my fears? Back on Market Dear Back on Market, What you are experiencing is completely normal. Almost everyone worries about getting into a new sexual relationship. When people are in a long-term, monogamous relationship with one person they generally feel pretty comfortable in the sack with that individual. But, when people start a sexual relationship with someone new they often have concerns about a number of things. People might worry whether their new partner will like their genitals or be turned off by the gigantic mole on their butt. Back on Market, it is best to take things slow. Relax and don’t put too much pressure on yourself to make love like a porn star. Try to remember back to when you first started dating your ex. You were able to move forward in the sex department back then. And, it’s completely fine to tell your new partner how you are feeling about becoming sexual once again. If they respect you, they will move at a pace comfortable for you. Best regards, Dr. Brian ParkerThis article was published on Saturday 10 February, 2007. |
